[makoto's not quite so aimlessly walking about campus, but he seems to have found himself in the law building again, albeit on the first floor. he's following a map of sorts, and he keeps glancing at the doors with a skeptical eye before moving on and repeating the process.]

[he's not quite familiar with campus, and every building looks the same to him. he just wants to find the advisors' office!]

[point being that he doesn't remember he was in this building not too many weeks ago.]

[makoto stops, and straightens away from looking down at the hand-drawn map on his hands. he looks up and contemplates the painting on the wall. it's not the original, clearly, but it holds his attention in the detail of it.]

...hmm.

[a tilt of his head, and he turns back to the side, looking even more lost--if possible--than before.]

[Ardyn knows a lost individual when he sees one; lost students arrive in droves at the beginning of each new semester, fumbling around to look for their classes, the poor things. Makoto, at least, doesn't look like he's fumbling, but he recognizes the way he glances down each hallway, and at each number/nameplate next to each door. The map is a dead giveaway too.

Ardyn would help even if it wasn't a familiar face. But he recognizes the young man, so the law professor approaches almost immediately from down the corridor.]

Mr. Tachibana. You look very, very lost.

[He grins a little. It's similar to the one he might've seen before, but Ardyn allows it to be a bit more casual since this isn't an official appointment like the last time.]

Can I help direct you?

I was set up on a date the other day. A friend of a friend. Described as a good man, but very lonely. Given the friend in question does this kind of thing professionally, I agreed. I dressed up and got ready and went to the restaurant, only to find my assistant waiting for me.

(It wasn't intentional, for the record. He was as mortified as I was).

hey prof i've got a question

let's say that theoretically i was gonna start some sort of club for people on the network to meet up and learn to use the skills they've been picking up

specifically fighting since i'm pretty sure there's not a trainer out there that knows how to handle weapons that just materialize out of nowhere

do i need a waiver for people to sign saying they realize that they can get hurt fighting even if it's just with wooden swords and they aren't gonna take legal action

[for some reason, prompto finds himself in the professor's home once again, at some unrelated hour of the day. it's just about turning dark, the last couple rays of warm sunshine pressing through the openings of the curtains.]

[he winces as he tries to move, and decides it's best if he lets himself be taken in by the couch; no point in trying to be brave when it feels like his whole skeleton suffered.]

[the "for some reason" is, in fact, prompto getting injured once again. he didn't do it on purpose--despite popular belief--and he didn't aim to do so just so that ardyn could heal him right back up! at the very least, he had been wearing his helmet while on the scooter. a very unfortunate turn and a driver's thinking he had the priority had forced prompto to swerve off the street... and down a path of brambles and a shitty low wall, causing him to fly off his scooter and onto the ground in the most inelegant fashion.]

[his preferred mode of transportation needs the front bumper and tire replaced, the few scratches on its model something that'll build its personality, but... the one worse for wear is most definitely prompto.]

[an alarmingly red scratch bleeds and burns from the top of prompto's forearm all the way down past his elbow, the clear point of initial contact against the ground. smaller scratches take shape down the frame of his face, and bruises bloom green and dark purple on his side and legs. it was a nasty fall.]

--so, that's what happened.

[he concludes his tale of survival, a wince past cut lips, not quite daring to look up at ardyn because (even if this had not been his fault!), he feels foolish.]

The car just sped off, really.

[his scooter is lying on the front lawn. can prompto not go one month without getting hurt? his hair is still ridiculous and singed from his burning man attempt with dante recently, too. (now that's something he hasn't been completely honest with ardyn about.)]

[Ardyn is barely paying attention to Prompto's expression as the young man explains exactly what had happened. Instead, he's looking at those bruises, those scratches, the way the scarlet mark on his arm contrasts brightly with pale skin. The way that his hair seems... singed, even, from something that couldn't have possibly been from an unfortunate example of a hit-and-run; from something that couldn't possibly have been from an experiment conducted safely, as promised.

The professor is frowning, disapproval eking into his tone. Concern is the most prevalent, however, which easily surges to the forefront, drowning out the rest of his thoughts.]

I know it was beyond your control, but you really need to be more careful, Prompto. [Ardyn extends a hand, as if expecting Prompto to offer his so he can heal the boy. It comes without a second thought -- the need to comfort and to heal, the empathy that he extends towards others, even to his own detriment.]

This is happening with far too much frequency for me not to be concerned about the state of your well-being.

[The truth of the matter is that Ardyn is very much glued to his phone these days. What with Retrospec coming into their lives, it's the easiest way to check if there have been any interesting developments -- by way of Jim, or anyone else.

So he sees his phone light up with a text from Prompto nearby with little difficulty. It's not long before a response goes through.]

[prompto arrives alone today; that is, no dogs in tow, no scooter to announce his arrival. it's just him, his backpack loaded with his camera and tools, and dressed in proper attire--black slacks and a yellow polo. he hasn't even gelled his hair.]

[it's still early in the afternoon, the sun high up, so that explains why he's wearing a cap to shade his face.]

[A moment or two later, Ardyn opens the door. The sight he's greeted with is a little surprising -- he's used to seeing Prompto, certainly, but all cleaned up like this? No gel in his hair? You have to warn him first before you do anything like that.]
