He leans forward in his chair, elbows on his knees. He offers a hand to her.]

[Well, there's little else to do other than concentrate at this point.

Nothing happens at first, until all of a sudden something does. A light, a warm glow emanating from his hands, from his touch. It's peaceful, almost, the way it spreads -- the way it envelops a body whole, much like a warm bath, or the comfort one might feel in the safety and contentment of their own bed.

But that's all it does, in terms of actually healing.

Ardyn does not feel her pain become his, not the way it had happened in the past. Even if he focuses more (her eyes, he tells himself, it's her eyes that hurt) the magic doesn't appear to be affecting it in any way.

Frowning, he releases her hand. The magic ebbs away, as does the feeling of comfort.]

...Not a normal "injury", then, I'm sorry to say. It might be as I suspected.

[ It's possible that the magic does wave off the small amount of headache she has from earlier today? But no, the eyes themselves are simply sensitive and...

Healing won't fix it.

She rubs her eyes at the end of that, looking off at the far wall before looking back at him. ]

Honestly, I'd been thinking that too. That the sensitivity's more a feature than a bug of these things.

[He drops his hands, shaking his head in a somewhat apologetic manner.]

Yes. You can blame Retrospec for that. You're not the only one who's had changes to their eyes, it's just that the usual effect is a change of color and little more.

It isn't an affliction, only how your new eyes are now. My magic cannot heal that.

[ She grumbles that out and sighs, running a hand over her face ]

Not really, no. My memories seem to have mostly all been at night and there was a bat tornado in one of them.

I see why the imagery might lead to the conclusion of "vampire". But I suppose, in your case, it's still too early to tell. I wouldn't make any assumptions just yet.

[That's like something out of a movie, he muses; and while he would have found this ludicrous in the past, it's funny how rather accepting Ardyn is of it.]

Maybe you simply possessed the ability to control bats. You don't remember anything having to do with blood, do you? You know, vampires and all.

Now you mention it, I don't think so... no. Nothing to do much with blood yet.

Then let's not jump to conclusions about vampires and the like until we know for certain.

Unless, of course, you'd prefer to indulge in the fantasy. But Retrospec might chose to shatter that illusion instead of confirm it, so no point in getting one's hopes up.

I don't know who would hope for ending up in a position the sun'll burn them up, if it's really going to be changing my body so much.

It's not mutant- magic, or at least... I think it's just regular magic.

[Whatever passes for regular magic these days. What was even mutant-magic? He supposes it's all semantics in the end.]

I've remembered several things, but the most poignant was that I was a traveling healer. [He holds his hand up, wiggling a few fingers.]

[ . . . Okay she can't help but snort at this as she gets a strange mental image. the mutant thing came from his brother, she assumed he'd know well. but... ]

[He raises a brow at her, but hardly looks offended at all. Instead, he seems to be grinning, noticeable even in the faint lighting.]

I don't know if I was a priest, actually. Maybe. In another memory, I was going on to someone about the gods. Perhaps I was something of a religious man.

Is that amusing to you?

[ Well she can see in the dark too...! But... she nods and...

It's just odd to imagine a world with wandering healers, I suppose. It's like if the Inquisition was still operating and going around, some old world affair with might and magic.

Strange, though, how I think very little of it now. As odd as it might sound, to know of magic and monsters and daemons having existed, the memories come with some form of acceptance. Of simply... knowing that they must have been real, and not some delusion descending upon us all.

That's how I see it, in any case.

Putting it like that, the whole thing sounds so sagely.

[ she exhales, and she shakes her head ]
