originallutece: AND WHAT A SHIT OPINION IT IS (talk; that's like your opinion man)

[He's sensible, of course. He's encouraging her to keep this going, yes, but that doesn't mean he comes to his conclusion frivolously, and she appreciates that. And really: if it was entirely about friendship, she'd likely agree. Oh, she'd still be leery of it, especially given how much time Fawkes has been spending with her lately, but ultimately, she'd agree.

But that's not all of it. Rosalind rubs a hand over her face, exhaling harshly, and then finally types out:]

And if the connection should turn romantic? Is that still your advice?
originallutece: (talk; i feel numb most of the time)

I don't know. I hope not. But

[She hesitates.]

I know myself. And I'm aware of just how fond I am of him.
originallutece: playing with a blowtorch and doing dabs seems like a terrible combination but you do you (talk; uncertain)

A friend. I know the answer of a professor.
originallutece: do you even know what an atom is? (talk; all right let's start)

[personal profile] originallutece 2017-06-06 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
[What she truly appreciates about the advice is how thorough it is. This isn't a flippant answer, a go for it born of an idle whim. Yes, he's a romantic, and yes, he's somewhat impulsive, but he's giving her the courtesy of reasoning out his explanation.

She doesn't know if it will turn romantic. She can speculate about Fawkes, but the truth is, he's never done anything that would give her solid evidence to support her quiet hypothesis that he views her in such a light. Perhaps he doesn't. Perhaps her own fondness will stay at the speculation stage, limited to idle daydreams inspired by that one lunch date. Perhaps she's fussing for no reason at all.]

All right.

[They're discussing this anyway. She might as well go all in.]

. . . when you asked me about him a few weeks ago. I wasn't simply reacting because of his age.
originallutece: do you think he'll pick the wrong fucking lottery number i bet he will (talk; well here we are again at the fair)

[personal profile] originallutece 2017-06-06 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
You can't guess? I was reacting because you were precisely on the money.
originallutece: is apparently not the correct answer when people ask you why you do what you do (anger; SPITE)

1/2

Stop messing around.
originallutece: in the friscalating dusklight (talk; and they rode on)

[personal profile] originallutece 2017-06-06 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
. . . but that's precisely what I'm afraid of. That I'll say or do something and he'll jump to the wrong conclusion when I'm not even certain of it myself.
originallutece: the ojigi tried to eat the delivery boy again (talk; w e l p)

[personal profile] originallutece 2017-06-08 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
He's twenty-three.

[A very mature twenty-three, yes, but also still twenty-three.]
originallutece: (talk; i feel numb most of the time)

[personal profile] originallutece 2017-06-09 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
. . . it's not simply his age. It's the fact that he often doesn't act his age. We'll be talking and I'll forget he's nine years younger than me, he'll be perfectly mature and intelligent and brilliant, and then suddenly he'll say something and I'll abruptly remember.

I don't know if he'd bring it up, or simply try to hide it.
originallutece: NOBODY'S FLUSTERED STOP TALKING (talk; i'm not flustered you're flustered)

[personal profile] originallutece 2017-06-12 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
True.

In any case. It's not as if anything has happened yet, and there's nothing to say it will. But I appreciate your listening to all this. And the advice.

Trust me when I say you'll be the first to know if anything changes.
