He's a reasonable man. You can't blame him for being concerned for your sake, as well.

[Maybe Togusa's said that he cares about Prompto and him, but it's going to take time before Dante's able to really accept that fact. Hell, he's still having trouble comprehending the fact that Ardyn seems to sometimes, in spite of all the discussions they've had.]

Give him more credit than that. Of course he has reason to; he's not an uncaring man. That, coupled with his job, gives him every reason to feel concern for both your safety and others around you.

[To Ardyn, saying that Togusa doesn't have a reason to be concerned is doing a disservice to the man.]

That's because you haven't taken a Contract Law class yet. Consider doing so.

[He knows Togusa and how much of a public servant he seems to consier himself. He's a guy that's trying to do the right thing for the right reasons! He's just also wasting his time, just like Ardyn was.]

That makes even /less/ sense. There are many reasons why he should be concerned about you, Dante.

[He has no idea what to say to that, honestly. To any of that. There are many reasons? Like what? Ardyn thinks he'd make a good lawyer? How the hell would he make a good lawyer? He doesn't understand it, and yet he can't refute it at the same time because, well... Ardyn hasn't lied to him so far. If anything, Ardyn's been remarkably truthful, even when the truth has been hard to hear. If he's saying this... it's because he probably believes it.

Which means that he does think there are legitimate reasons to be concerned for his sake, and he does think that he'd do well as a lawyer.

Dante really doesn't know how to handle this sort of thing.

And so he falls back into his usual barbed comments instead.]

[Come now, Dante, give yourself more credit. Ardyn sees the merits in him that'd make for a good lawyer -- intelligent, clever, at least cognizant of how the law works (even if he's not always keen on following them).

And while he'd never make his student feel obligated to follow a path he's not interested in, he'll at least point out that -- technically -- he thinks Dante would make a good lawyer if he applied himself to such a career path.]

Now, don't take it the wrong way. There are certainly things you can improve upon, such as leashing that tongue of yours in a professional setting.

[But some things only come with age and experience. Dante still has time to learn... that.]

But I call it as I see it. You'd be a fine lawyer if you chose to be.
