9/07 after class

[torts class. civil wrongs. legal liability for the person who commits the tortious act. it's an exceptionally entertaining class, and objectively speaking ardyn is a hell of a good speaker. the man likes to hear himself speak and he doesn't hold back at all in needing to be direct. eloquence comes easily to him, and prompto is sat on the third row of the lecture hall, drumming his fingers to the rhythmic beat the professor doesn't notice he uses for his words at an academic pace.]

[exceptionally entertaining class as it is, prompto's head keeps drooping. his eyes closing, sweating despite the air conditioner, an uncomfortable grogginess pushing him downwards onto his table.]

[that's how ardyn will find him at the end of the class, getting woken up by the scuffle of other students trying to walk past him. he looks dazed, trying to put his things together, ultimately holding onto the back rest of the chair at a sudden feeling of vertigo. is it vertigo? suddenly he feels incredibly out of the loop.]

[he needs to get home.]

[Most of the class is quick to filter out, with only a few stragglers left behind. This is nothing surprising, though after his students leave, there is usually Prompto still lingering, ready to exchange a few words with him. Nothing weighty, usually a "how are you doing today" or "did you enjoy the lecture". A quiet solidarity in being victims of Retrospec and "reconstruction" together, but even more so is Ardyn just wanting to say hello to someone important to him.

Today, though, it's impossible to not see that something is wrong.

Ardyn watches Prompto sway on his feet, and in moments he's at his side, frowning.]

Are you all right?

[Without asking (without feeling the need to), he places the back of his hand on Prompto's forehead.]

Prompto, you're warm. Are you feeling sick?

...But this text amuses Ardyn to no end. He's smart enough to put two and two together, and Dante's crying foul at his joke about giving his sword a bath must've made its rounds.

Good thing Ardyn is awake to see this. If he had a normal sleep schedule, he might've missed out on this strange but amusing opportunity. Thank god for borderline insomnia, some nights.]

[he really shouldn't be in class. he shouldn't be at the campus at all, but something doesn't sit right with the idea of skipping school--regardless of the justified reason--the second week in, and while it's a bit of an odyssey and he's more groggy than anything throughout the day, prompto's a trooper.]

[he thinks the medicine will hold him through until after work. at the very least, it's 2pm, and he's done with his classes for the day. it's been a blur, and he wants to nap. this nap has to be at a particular place, however, and prompto's delighted to notice that professor izunia is, in fact, in his office.]

Uhgnn...

[prompto's greeting is a zombie-like groan, removing his backpack from his shoulders onto the floor before he, too, goes down on his knees and lies down on a patch of carpet, right under a sunspot. it'll bother him soon enough.]

[(because it's not only the fever what's bothering him; he can't get something that happened over the weekend, on the network, out of his head. he needs his dad.)]

[He's greeted by a zombie at his door-- or rather, it looks to be Prompto. He peers over the top of his laptop, just in time to see the young man fall to the ground in a somewhat theatrical matter. Ardyn would be more concerned if not for the fact that he can tell when people are being overly dramatic, versus when they really do need help. He knows that the young man is still recovering from his sickness, but certainly nothing worrisome enough to be lying down on his floor.

He assumes, then, that something else is the matter. He continues typing.]

Something the matter, Prompto? You should've stayed home today if you're still struggling.

[Let him just... finish this... email. And then he can give him proper attention.]

9/16 Accidental video

[It's early in the morning, and a video gets sent to Ardyn's inbox, of Daisuke being a cute brat. Togusa's voice can be heard behind the camera muttering, "Daisuke. Come on. Go back to sleep. Daisuke."

"Fiiine."

There's something a little...odd about the camera angle through it all, though. That's some really smooth camera work. It goes on for a few minutes, and cuts off as Togusa seems to finally relent, and Daisuke trots off towards his food bowl ahead of him.]

[Well, this is a cute video, even if it doesn't seem to be purposefully sent. Still, Ardyn finds amusement in it, though some idle part of his mind thinks that Togusa really has some high-tech video recorder that he's using for all of this.]

Is that the normal morning routine?

9/18 it time

[Hey, Ardyn. Have you had enough of people barging into your office to whine about things? Because it's Dante's turn this time! Monday, about midway through the day, Dante's dropping by Ardyn's office, focusing more on his cell phone than the professor as he leans against the door frame (if he's even there; Dante's only paying half-attention). After a moment he'll glance up to see if Ardyn is there or not--either way, he's coming further in, taking the chair on the visitor's side of the desk and dropping his bag to the floor beside it. Resting his injured arm in his lap, he's just going to... lean forward and lay his head on the desk, phone still in front of his face.

Only he didn't exactly sleep well last night, between the partly-healed injuries and the usual dreams, so when Ardyn returns to his office, it will be to a young man sleeping at his desk, his hand semi-curled around his phone on the desktop.]

[Ardyn comes in only minutes later, brandishing some sort of heavy text in his hands — a law book, no doubt, one which he was going to reference for an upcoming lecture. But he pauses as he sees Dante leaning forward on his desk, potentially asleep, and he frowns in concern, stepping into his office proper.

He gently places the book down on his desk so not to startle him, then arches a brow — a little worryingly — and lightly taps the young man on the shoulder.]

Dante.

[Poor boy’s had it rough lately.]

There are things called beds, you know. You should utilize one, if you’ve not the energy to be in class today.

[Why does this seem like deja vu? Probably because he said something similar to Prompto not that long ago.]

[ You know what. Yu doesn't even call or text, he just. He just comes over to the house. Because he's upset and he doesn't want to be home right now and he knows that if he asked Ardyn would just tell him to come over anyway.

So on a cool evening Ardyn may hear someone letting himself in the front door, though it takes an unusually long moment for a voice to call out: ]

[Ardyn is indeed home, and the voice that eventually calls out is of course welcome at any time of day. It's only a moment or two before his own voice responds, not physically in view just yet.]

Yu, what a nice surprise. I had just been thinking about you boys not that long ago.

[He's always worrying about the twins in some form or fashion, or at the very least hoping that they're doing well. But when he turns a corner into view to greet him, he can immediately tell something is wrong.

His smile falls into something twisted with concern.]
