That sounds highly inconvenient, to say the least. Are you able to function normally with claws getting in the way? And do you recall them in your memories?

Also, you didn't answer my question about /experiments/. What are you doing and why would you need me?

My nail structure has changed, the length, dome, and curve are all increased, but I have not developed a musculature to allow me to retract them. My hands themselves are the same.

The experiment would be whether or a re-constructive surgery could accomplish such a thing.

Impossible in the realm of the normal, I would never heal properly. But now there's magic to consider.

It's an idle though, Ardyn, even if we had a proof of concept, I would then have to train a second surgeon to perform it on me. I can't very well reconstruct my own hands.

[ For all their complaining about Ardyn, they trust him enough to share this ghoulishness with him. Pitou isn't stupid, they won't talk about experimental underground surgeries with just anyone. ]

Does that not sound rather destructive in general? I think you should be more hesitant to want to do that with your own hands, despite the inconvenience.

The plot may be incomplete, but the inclination is there. And given everything that's happened recently, I'm starting to believe that nothing is outside of the realm of possibility. It's only a matter of waiting.

Besides, wouldn't these changes be at all disturbing for you?

They're not disturbing. They're interesting.

To have changes forced upon us that no one asked for is /interesting/.

The mechanism of that force alone should intrigue you. What would *you* do, if you could change the natures of those around you?

I would question whether or not I had any right to change such natures in the first place.

What of curing diseases, deformities, disabilities? You wouldn't even take the time to consider that?

Of course I would consider it.

But I would also question whether or not that kind of power is my responsibility to bear. Shaping the entire world, just because I believe it should be changed.

No different than Retrospec forcing changes upon us without our permission.

I'm having trouble seeing how regaining the abilities and, more importantly, the /memories/ of a man like that other Ardyn does anyone any good.

Oh, just as much. But he's also manipulative and hateful, and I could do without those traits for now.

Some of us are not so willing to accept that, Pitou. Letting the other me overwrite the man that I am now. I put a bit more stock in this life than to let it slip away so easily.

What makes you so sure that'll be the end result? You don't believe who we are now has any influence whatsoever over who we might become?
