Correct on both counts. Magic that is rather inexplicable, but I possess it all the same.

I can explain how it works -- the process in which I focus to summon forth an item, or begin the healing process -- but /why/ it works is a different matter altogether. Thus far, there is no real scientific explanation. My body hasn't changed since I gained these powers, and I feel no real difference.

I see. I admit I was hoping to understand a little better. You healed a man I work with, Faolan.

So you know him? Yes, from the shadow wolf bites; though I imagine he's told you already.

Is there something specific that you wished to know? You're free to ask, and I can still attempt to answer to the best of my abilities.

I find it difficult to trust things I don't understand. I don't understand how any of this is possible.

In which you actually mean to say that you do not trust my magic?

I barely trust the news on a good day, dont take it personally.

Oh, I certainly don't. In fact, I think it's a legitimate concern, what with the strange array of abilities that exist in this community.

Would you take comfort in knowing that there have been no adverse effects to date?

I do not. But it would be wrong of me to promise this to you regardless, wouldn't it?

The healing is via touch. My hands glow, and my magic works when I focus. It washes away the pain, and begins to heal injuries in ways that one can witness right before their eyes. At the most, it takes moments. No scarring is left, and it is as if they were never injured to begin with.

When did you discover you could do this? Has the healing ever undone itself?

[ You know, 'worn off' so that the person starts bleeding again or somesuch? ]

It has never undone itself. And I discovered I was able to do this in May.

You're worried that it "undoing" itself might happen to Faolan?

[anguinous]

I'm concerned that I don't even know what possibilities I should be worrying about.

What would you like for me to tell you, then? That all will be fine? That no foreseeable consequences will arise in the future?

All signs point to that it'll be fine. This is the most comfort that I can offer you for now, as I've had no complaint from any of the individuals I've healed.

[ ... Since Laurent is actually studying business jointly here and in France. Depending on what manner of law he teaches, there is a good chance he might be in one of Ardyn's classes at a later point. He wouldn't be in anything but business law classes, though! ]

I do. And yes, I can show you, but that /does/ require an injury that needs healing, first.

[Which is... well, questionable. He doesn't want anyone to go and hurt themselves for the sake of proving a point, though at the same time he does want to show that this is not something that has any particularly bad consequences for the one being healed.

(He may stumble into one of Ardyn's classes one day, if his business path perhaps leads him into a Torts class! Contracts, too, though that does depend on the semester.)]

Laurent knows nothing about magic so he doesn't even think to ask about the cost of healing, he doesn't even play video games that might normalise a cost as a thing. ]

If you heal it I won't even need a dressing, so I won't have to report it as an accident to the university.

When would be a good time for you? I'm not above bribery if bringing you coffee will help. It is my understanding that Americans consider this a currency of sorts.

You may bring coffee all the same, but even if you don't, it'll not affect my willingness to heal you properly.
