You're not Majima.
no subject
I assume whatever you were talking about was for Majima's eyes only?
no subject
Uh, yeah, kinda.
I want him to see it first, anyway.
[ being vague isn't helping, Kiryu. ]
no subject
Is it something...
[how to say this]
...romantic?
no subject
Sort of.
I know Majima will like it.
no subject
What is it, then?
no subject
[ That's not nearly as exciting to anyone else, Kaz. ]
no subject
How generous of them. I wasn't aware.
What sort of tattoo?
no subject
Like... this really traditional Japanese dragon, all along my back. It's silver and red.
no subject
/All/ along your back? That's a very large tattoo. Did Retrospec originally give you an unfinished product?
no subject
A tattoo this big would have taken months to finish.
I originally only had the outline.
I guess past-me had to save up his money before he could afford to have it finished.
no subject
[He's still curious, though.]
It must've been important to the other you, somehow. Something so large and prominent. Do you have memories revolving around your tattoo?
no subject
Tattoos like these are supposed to be a reflection of who you are and what you believe in.
It's... do you know about the yakuza?
They also represent your commitment to the family.
no subject
(Admittedly all I know about the yakuza is how they're portrayed in TV and film. I have a feeling that's not quite the full scope.)
no subject
It's a little more intense than what they show in the movies.
But the tattoos are a big part of it.
It's a rank and power thing.
Some people get their whole bodies covered in tattoos.
no subject
[Honestly... fascinating. He has a million questions now, but it would be unfair to dump them all on Kiryu at once, and so he starts simply enough.]
You said it's a reflection of rank and power, and of who you are and what you believe in. So what does your tattoo say about your other self, do you know?
no subject
I think it means I have the strength to rise to the top.
Or overcome anything that comes my way.
I'm not 100% sure though.
But dragons are known for their strength.
They used to call me the Dragon of Dojima, so it was a big part of my reputation.
[ It helps that the kanji for dragon is actually in his name too. ]
no subject
Do you remember anything else about this past life of yours?
no subject
[ He was super intimidating, you'd be surprised. ]
I've remembered a lot of stuff, actually.
It was a dangerous life, but it was a big part of my old life.

It seems like I must have gotten used to all the danger after a while.
I've had guys come at me on motorcycles and seen some people die.
It makes me glad that's not my life anymore.
