You say a friend -- who?

[Pitou would likely punch Togusa next if she knew he was making cat jokes, but come on.]
no subject
Pitou, then. Somehow that is not at all surprising.
no subject
I do really mean the congratulations. And I figured you two were going to find a way to do this without warning your family first.
no subject
[But such as it is.]
Thank you, though, Togusa. And you're right; family was the least of our concerns. Certain family, at least.
no subject
But, come on, fess up, what prompted it, then? I need to know the story, because I can only imagine you two got swept up in some huge romantic moment and needed to do it right then.
[Shhh, let no one know that Togusa is also a complete romantic sap.]
no subject
Should I just chalk it up to impulse and leave it at that?
[The truth of the matter is that it was the result of proving to Grell something quite important -- that she would not have the ability to doubt whether or not she'd be a good wife to him if they were already married. Such uncertainties that crept in thanks to the encroaching of bad memories.
But that's too personal to share. It rests just between the two of them.]
no subject
Oh no, oh dear oh no. Firstly, I get the feeling Grell would object to belonging to anyone. If anything, I feel it's the other way around. Secondly, I am going to ask, now. On my own head be it.
It's sweet. You two love each other, you're already spending the rest of your lives together, there is no sense in waiting. If the time is right to start, I'm glad you did it. You're committed, the paper is secondary. Impulse definitely didn't lead you wrong here.
It's good to see people not waiting to be happy.

[Togusa might be caught in a ten minute rant, he thinks. What an amusing thought.]
What point is there in waiting, I wonder? After all that's happened to us. And not knowing what might happen to this city from week to week, month to month.

For some people, the uncertainty is leading to positive impulsivity instead of a detachment and uncaring. Although, could we tell the difference, you being impulsive? Or is this just tapping in to something that was already there.
no subject
Do you feel more impulsive now, Togusa? Or has caution hooked its claws more thoroughly into you now?
no subject
Okay. Definitely more impulsive. I'm taking chances that I normally wouldn't have, and not all of them are good. But they're ending up helping people, so I can't complain.
Take right out here for an example. I'm doing anything I can to help out these people in Pesgare, even though it's not my job here, I don't have official jurisdiction, but who cares? It's the right thing to do.
[To throw up an example to thoroughly distract from the idea that Togusa might be thinking of a different situation.]

Maybe it's for the best, in the end. To spark a bit of a fire beneath us -- as long as that doesn't turn into recklessness.
