Care to explain re: oversharing?

Last week, my team grew gills. We followed a koi fish, eventually to a temple with half of its rooms submerged underwater. The undersea theme continued.

[You know, so there's that.]

You grew gills.

[Nope, oversharing can come later, this is 1000% more important.]

I'll give you one text to explain before I begin bombarding you with questions.

Very well. They were temporary gills. When we put on... what I can only assume were magical robes, they gave us gills as a result. We could breathe in both air and water just fine. I made a joke about being a merman.

After removing these robes, the gills went away.

[Listen, he doesn't know how not to make this sound ridiculous.]

[It's only the fact they've known each other so long, and that Ardyn typically doesn't outright lie in situations like this, that has her believing him.

Do you still have the robes? And did you grow anything else? Webbing, fins, things like that?

No, they disappeared as soon as we teleported back to the forest bunker. And nothing else changed. I just had a pair of working gills lining my neck. Nothing else to make water traversal much easier.

If nothing else, you got a workout, I suppose. Rather a change from pacing in front of a lecture hall, hm?

[But those are idle words, because she's still thinking about this. There are species that can breathe on both land and air, so she supposes whatever biological modifications they have to their lungs, Ardyn had temporarily placed on his. But oh, that's a horrid thought, because bodies don't work that way; you can't just go in and change things, not easily.

And what did you do once you reached your destination?

The joys of getting a workout in the great outdoors. Yes, that /is/ a silver lining.

We fought an underwater (of course) monster. It had tentacles and claws. It grabbed my leg and tossed me around.

Any broken bones?

[That comes back very fast. It's like he's her friend or something and she cares about him, dang.]

No need to worry, nothing serious. There are some very interestingly-shaped bruises around my leg, though.

[Like the suckers of an octopus' tentacles.]

All-in-all, the week might have been eventful, but there were less troublesome injuries between our team.

And you're a little less worn out this week in turn, I hope. How many did you heal this week?

Only one. A bullet grazed Faolan's arm after we had fought shadow versions of ourselves. Compared to the last few weeks, it was a negligible sort of pain at best.

[Sort of. It was bleeding a lot, but not fatal. Still, Ardyn took care of it quickly.]

Shadow versions.

Yes. Ourselves, but made of shadow. Mine had the most unnerving kind of smile.

I am not mentally traumatized, if that's what you mean. Only exceedingly tired, and even that will pass with enough time.

Though I should reflect the question back. Are you?

Yes. Truly. I'll be more pleased when this is all behind us, but nor am I weeping inconsolably each night. Though I could do without the weekly check-ins to see if my friends and students are still whole.

Bruised, cut up, but nothing that won't eventually heal. Though I admittedly haven't checked in with those students who don't have the app, and in some ways, I'm a bit more concerned for them.

I understand. The fact that there is even less to be done for them makes one feel even more... ah. Useless, in that vein.

Also, do you plan on telling me about the oversharing, and the riddles that required you to do so?

We were required to state evil things we'd seen but looked away from, heard but not reported, and done but not told anyone about. The first two weren't so hard-- Jack came up, I'm sorry to say, but I didn't state him by name-- but you can well guess my reasoning behind my reluctance for the third.

And do you care to share? Or shall I stop asking questions?

You know them all already.

Jack was something I'd heard and not told, nor intended to ever tell anyone. There were a few petty ones, stories from a college friend of mine, that I'd heard but hadn't reported, and then my relationship with Fawkes was something I'd done but not told the authorities about, though by all rights I ought to have.

[And so it would seem, yes, that he knows of all of them.]

I imagine that was rather uncomfortable, given that I assume you had to speak all of these in front of your teammates?
