what if there's a chocobo that thought it was the last of its species
it grew up all by itself and thought okay, i can deal, i'm just gonna hang out with the other animals and kinda blend in but not really?? but it's better than nothing
then lion king time skip this chocobo's all grown up and runs into another chocobo for the first time ever
how is the chocobo hero of ours supposed to feel

Well, wouldn't this chocobo feel glad? There's nothing at all wrong with the other animals, of course, but no one can relate our chocobo quite as well as another from its kind.

Though, perhaps it feels a bit apprehensive as well, being faced with the unknown?

i think... i think there's a chance for belonging it always wanted
but also it's afraid of rejection
what if the other chocobo rejects him? it's way worse than knowing it's always been alone

right?

I think that this chocobo has a decision to make. Either take that chance and risk being hurt, or wonder for the rest of its life "what if". /What if/ I had tried to connect with this other chocobo, would I have been happier then? Would I have another friend who would understand me, with whom I could relate to, with whom I could make memories with? What if I had just made an attempt?

Sometimes, I think, not knowing is worse.

even if it's the scariest thing in the world right now?

Don't forget this chocobo does still have the support of the other animals, forever and always. Even if it is scary, at least it has its friends to fall back on. Some strength should be borrowed, knowing that. If it helps at all.

Prompto, did something happen?

[That's all he can really ask; he certainly can't force Prompto to tell him anything that's he's uncomfortable with, but it would be unfair to assume that Ardyn wouldn't be immediately concerned regardless.]

[A lengthy pause. Ardyn may not know the details of Prompto's family past, but he does know the boy well enough to have a general grasp of his insecurities. He feels the weighted implications of this.]

How did you come across him?

Do you feel guilty because of it? You realize that none of that is your fault, and I certainly hope he has enough sense to not place that kind of blame on your shoulders.

Did you give him your number, at least? And what is his name?

like the initials on the cap

i feel stupid i ran back afterwards to see if he was still there but i couldn't find him
i asked around and no one knew..

You have his name, and that's the important part.

If you wish to find him, then spread the word. I've already committed the name to memory, and therefore I'll be keeping an eye out. Is he by any chance a student at the university? Do you know?

he doesn't seem that much older than me though

Then there's a chance that he is. I'll look for the name Cloud floating about. It should stand out, given its unusualness.
