He's really been awfully selfish as of late, huh? Fynn never thinks about how his decisions would effect Ardyn. Just never.]
I will. [He whispers quietly with a slight sniffle. Forget the wounds, man. Fynn is more concerned about his brother than himself. He knew Ardyn would offer to heal him and he wants to decline but he needs to be back in tiptop shape soon.
His team, his colleagues, he has people waiting for him.]
...Alright.

He's stubborn, at least, refusing to stop until he watches skin heal completely, scarring and all.]

The fact that he's hurting Ardyn makes the man snatch away his hand in favor of throwing his arms around his brother. Fynn hugs him tightly as he just buries his face within Ardyn's clothes. While the wound is partially healed at best thanks to his disruption, Fynn honestly couldn't care any less if there's a scar or two left behind. He just doesn't want his brother to injure himself at his accord.
No, that's definitely not what he wants. Their family hurt Ardyn enough all those years ago. Fynn refuses to become a burden like their parents were.
He utterly refuses.]

He thought, for a second, that he saw tears in Fynn's eyes before he latched onto him, burying his face in his clothes. He hesitates for a second, feeling something like a mix of sympathy and concern in his chest, before he puts his arms around his brother in return. He just sits there for a second like that, and then words come to him.]
Fynn... why are you crying?
[He hadn't meant to guilt his younger brother in quite that capacity.]

[His embrace tightens around Ardyn after that sudden outburst but eventually he calms. Fynn's grip around his brother loosens some as those tears finally stop falling. He doesn't dare look at his brother now, so he tries to obscure his face however he can. Fynn honestly feels bad for losing his composure like this, especially since it would only worry Ardyn further. If anyone should feel guilty here, it's Fynn.]
Our parents, mom and dad...they've hurt you. [He whispers as he gently pulls away.] They hurt you so bad that you still can't forgive them.
I...I didn't want to hurt you either. Your ability to heal is something truly wonderful and magical but it hurts you.
[Fynn takes a deep breath as he dares to continue. It's not like him to be so honest.]
I was scared for a long time you would resent me as much as you resented them. I vowed not to be a burden to you. To not be anything like our parents but here we are.
[An uneasy sigh escapes him as he peeks up at Ardyn with such a gloomy smile.]
I'm hurting you. My own stupidity is hurting you.

[Some part of Ardyn does hurt when Fynn says that, but it isn't because of what his brother claims. He's quick to correct, looking at him, as if that'll make his younger brother meet his gaze.]
Look at me.
[It has the edge of a command to it, but there's something also apologetic there.]
You're nothing at all like mom and dad. Do you understand that? You were never a burden. Why on earth would you think that?
[Ardyn went out of his way to spend time with his brother, to guide him and to keep him company when they were growing up, simply because he loved him. Not because he felt some wayward, inconvenient obligation.]
no subject
Right. [He let's out another slight sigh.] I still stand by what I said. I didn't mean to end up hurting you like this.
[He takes his brother's hand within his with a faint smile.]
I need to make this up to you, Ardyn. I can already see how tired you are. I swear once all this nonsense ends, I'm taking time off so I can help you out for a change.
[His smile brightens some.]
That's what brothers do, right? I need to make sure you don't wear yourself out.

You really don’t have to. You know that I’m choosing to take on others’ pain when I do this; it’s not because of some tiresome obligation, but merely because I want to help.
[The compulsion of a bleeding heart.]
Though if you’d like to spend more time together when this is all over, since we haven’t the chance with all the nonsense happening in the city, I wouldn’t mind it.
