Does this bother you? [Not the not knowing bit, because that's obvious. Being surrounded by a whirlwind of questions isn't something that he likes much, either.] That you would've been physically different, more capable, than what might've been considered "normal"?

[the question is exactly one she's asking herself. while having the abilities weren't necessarily a bad thing itself, the idea of having them meant that she was different, and not in a sense that was easily swept under the banner of everyone being different in their own way. this was something else.]

It doesn't bother me yet, but it will, after I have time to think on it more. Right now I think I'm still processing the idea.

[when it sinks in that if she was so different, what made her so, if she was even changed like that at all?]

I've had to bend the rules of what I can accept and what's unrealistic and truly bothers me ever since Retrospec came into our lives. This is sort of teetering on the boundary for the moment.

[Ardyn can't blame her. It had been not that long ago when he confessed to her his own anxieties regarding his new abilities. That something dark and unrelenting would change him from the inside out, and this was enough to dredge up uncertainty in even the most confident mind.

But in a way, this is different. This was not something that held the threat of some nebulous, inner turmoil. Her healing abilities, at least currently, seemed rather straightforward: experience an injury, and heal from it faster. There was nothing that threatened to change who she might be as a person, and thus he doesn't feel too much like a hypocrite when he says:]

I don't think that this new skill of yours threatens to change who you are at your core. And even if you had been unordinary in a past life, does it change the role in the one you have now?

[It's early for these types of questions, and yet Ardyn feels as if they'll be forced to face them head-on soon enough. But basically the gist is this: Grell, try not to worry.]

[it hadn't been so long ago that a friend had confided in her about his own suspicions of being not truly human. but there was a point to be made in it not affecting her down in the core. this, at least, was no physical alteration to send the wheels in her mind spinning. this was simply...a bonus of sorts. a gift, for whatever reason.]

Well, last time I checked, I'm still me. Still Dr. Grell Sutcliffe, with all that the name and title entails.

[He will absolutely listen. He doesn't think he needs to reiterate how much he wants her to speak to him about these new developments, should they come.]

Of course. All that it implies, and all that it doesn't. The whole of yourself is still very much intact.
