11/3: They say it's your birthday

[This one couldn't be hiding in Ardyn's mailbox, but got left on his doorstep. Mail call, but for a funny purpose, instead of a questionable one, this time.

The box is quite large, nearly a yard square, and then another foot and a half deep. But it's pretty light. The giveaway is the card on the top, which reads: 'Happy Birthday, next time we travel in style.'

Of course this is what's inside. Somebody's been sitting on this one for a few months.]

[Once he puzzled over what it could be for a few seconds, then brings it inside to open it, Ardyn finds this both a funny and kind gesture. This gift plays to his sense of humor quite well, and he thinks to himself that he should find a plastic toy spider sometime soon to put in the driver's seat.

But first, a text to Togusa.]

You really shouldn't have. My insurance rates will skyrocket.

[Togusa laughs and laughs when he gets that text. He knew Ardyn would appreciate the joke, as well as the sentiment behind it.]

So long as they don't know what you're doing with it? Should be fine.

Happy Birthday. I'm open to swing by, but I didn't know if you were planning anything or just keeping this all quiet.

You're more than welcome to say hello, as always, after I've finished up with class. I have a distinct feeling that you're not the only person who'll threaten me with birthday well-wishes today.

Such a threat. I'll be waiting.

Togusa waits outside of Ardyn's office, because it seems someone beat him there. He's just not even going to question it, it's far funnier to act like this is totally normal, anyway.

But he's got that smile on his face again, the one that has been quite absent from him since the beginning of July. And a sharp eye would have noticed who had returned to the network this month. Can't just be a coincidence.

When Ardyn enters his office, well... let's just say that Togusa is not the first person or thing that he notices. Because what is with all of this wrapping paper.

He just stands and gawks for a moment, blinking at all the bright, colorful designs. His hand still rests on the doorknob to his office, and he just kind of... moves his gaze to settle onto Togusa. Just sitting there like he belongs in this birthday disaster, a smile clear on his face.

"...Well. This is unexpected."

Togusa bursts out laughing and shakes his head, but he holds up his hands like he's professing innocence. "Like this when I got here. I would love to claim the credit on this one, but I can't! Some other mastermind out there."

Togusa exaggeratedly rolls his head around to look at it all. The mind immediately jumps to Three particular suspects, but there's a very good chance they are actually innocent. "List of possible culprits is a lot longer now than it would'a been at the start of the year." And that's a good thing, Ardyn. That good-natured smile hasn't gone away at all.
