Ardyn is a night owl. This doesn’t necessarily mean he parties until the wee hours in the morning, it just means that this man goes to bed like he’s still in his early twenties. In other words, really late. His average amount of sleep each night is a measly 4-5 hours (6 if he's lucky), but he manages to function quite well somehow — the only thing that gives away this terrible sleeping habit are the subtle bags around his eyes.

…Though he isn’t inhuman, so there are days maybe once a month where he’ll just take a Sunday to crash completely. Please don’t bother him on those days.

He lives in fairly nice neighborhood, in an equally fairly nice house, though small despite being two-story. He keeps it meticulously neat in almost every room. The only exceptions are his bedroom and his study. The latter has papers strewn everywhere and the former is just— people aren’t going to be wandering in there, he doesn’t feel the need to keep up appearances quite as much as the rest of the house, okay.

Speaking of his study, Ardyn likes to read and this is reflected in the amount of books he has. Some are boring and law related, but some of his favorites are classic lit, horror, and even some sci-fi/fantasy. He also enjoys reading biographies/history about old dead royals. He has an entire shelf dedicated to that alone.

Open up his closet and it’s like staring into a black abyss. Ardyn has a thing for the color black and darker grays, but a fair share of it is accented with weird flourishing patterns; some less subtle than others. Listen, he dresses like this in canon, okay. Just imagine an AU counterpart, it’s probably just as questionable. He also has a scarf collection, which is exceedingly bright in comparison to the rest of his ensemble. And yes, he still wears the fedora on occasion.

He owns two cars. One usually sits in the garage (a gift from his parents from when he passed the bar exam), the other he actually drives more often like the hipster hobo that he is also that horse always makes me laugh ok. He’s not a car buff, but he takes care of both of them, despite knowing that paying insurance on two vehicles when he’s living alone is kind of silly. Honestly, his vehicles are probably the most extravagant items he owns, and the only real indication that he came from a family of money. (Even if the BMW is like, 10 years old at least.)

He used to keep his hair cut short and more professional-looking when he was practicing law as an attorney. Now that he’s teaching, he just lets it grow out and do whatever it wants. He kind of likes the windswept look.

For a man whose complexion isn’t terribly pale, he sunburns easily. Ardyn is the man who brings a black umbrella to the beach if you somehow manage to make the universe implode on itself and drag him there. He can handle the summer heat, but he hates the intensity of the sun, and will take every opportunity to shield his eyes with the brim of his fucking fedora during that time of year.

Occasionally people ask him if he ever plans on settling down. His answer is usually flippant and dismissive, which is a rather accurate reflection of his love life in general. Long-term serious relationships, though not out of the realm of possibility, are rather alien to him, and he's never considered putting the effort into one because no one has convinced him otherwise. Dating Grell Sutcliffe now?? How did this happen???? So in love with Grell that he hardly knows what to do with himself. He will bleed his romantic heart dry for her if need be. As of October 2017, is now engaged to her.

His parents forced him to take music lessons when he was younger for several years. Still has Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata ingrained into his brain for all eternity because of it.
